Vincit – Reframing Christmas gifts

Last Christmas our employees were given the opportunity to donate the amount set aside for the employees´ Christmas gifts to charity. The outcome was amazing! Together, we raised almost €20,000 for Hope – Yhdessä ja Yhteisesti ry. A low effort solution of re-routing resources for the ones that need them most.

Review

This idea creates instant engagement with its employees while building on the company values. It is a great example, hopefully, to be replicated in many other companies where the management understands the need, gets involved personally, and provides financially.

Easily replicated and the more used would increase in impact. The gifts given, however, could, and maybe should be services for the families. This would also mitigate CO2 emissions - in case the replace goods as presents for the employees.

Purpose

Last Christmas We Changed Things Up. This time, our employees were given the opportunity to donate the amount set aside for the employees’ Christmas gifts to charity. The idea initially came from our own employees and we loved it! Building a better tomorrow for everyone is our core value and this was another hands-on way to make that happen.

Results

Together, we raised almost €20,000. That’s nearly 200 employees, about 40 % of our workers. This was a great way to make a real difference in a tangible way. It was also a great reminder of how we are often able to achieve more together as a larger group.

*The funds will be used to help Finnish low-income families with children and children in care.

Implementation

This idea was really easy to turn into reality. Our People team sent out an online survey to ask our staff if they wanted to exchange their Christmas gift into a €99 donation for Hope ry.
