Goal
Seedling Deed is an act for benefiting the environment and for employing young people. The aim of planting trees is to employ young Finns while increasing the carbon sinks of Finnish forests. Young people get summer work experience by planting seedlings in areas that have not been in active forestry or agriculture use for decades, or that have ceased to act as peat production areas. The seedlings used in Seedling Deed are spruce and pine. The goal of Seedling Deed is to plant up to 10,000 hectares of new forest by 2030, which means a total amount of about 20 million new trees. Seedling Deed was launched in the spring of 2019 and by the end of 2020, the young people employed by Seedling Deed have planted almost 200,000 new trees, which equals over 80 hectares.
